Menopause
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to our first meeting of the newly formed Teesside Menopause Forum.
The forum has been established to bring together healthcare professionals with an interest in menopause care, providing an opportunity to share best practice, discuss local challenges and opportunities, review current guidance, and support improvements in patient care across our region.
We hope this forum will foster collaboration, encourage open discussion, and help create a network for ongoing learning and service development.

Dr Lucy Newton, MBBS, MRCGP, BSc (hons) psychology.
I qualified as a GP in 2018 and have always been passionate about women’s health.
I am clinical lead in Women’s Health for our local GP Federation (Hartlepool and Stockton Health) and have enjoyed seeing our Women’s health services grow and develop to help provide care to local women going through peri menopause / menopause.
I am currently doing my MCPD (menopause care professional diploma) and have lots of clinical experience in menopause. I feel strongly about delivering evidence-based care tailored to each individual’s needs. I do this by creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where women feel heard, informed, and empowered to make decisions about their health.
When I am not at work you will find me doing reformer pilates (my new obsession!), at the gym or in the garden or walking my two mischievous dogs Boris and Bruno. I live in Great Ayton with my husband and two daughters.
Dr Jahnavi Veeramasuneni MBBS, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFP, MCPD
I’m a GP with nearly 20 years’ experience in primary care and have always had a strong interest in women’s health. I completed the Menopause Care Professional Diploma (MCPD) through the College of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and am passionate about providing evidence-based, personalised menopause care.
My interest in menopause developed through years of caring for women in general practice and recognising the significant impact menopausal symptoms can have on health, work and quality of life. I’m passionate about improving menopause care, supporting colleagues, and making evidence-based education accessible in primary care.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me outdoors. I’m a keen marathon runner, have recently discovered a love for trail running and hiking, and firmly believe that some of the best conversations happen on a long run or a walk in the countryside!
