LESS SORTING & LESS PAPER TO SEND TO NHS BSA PRESCRIPTION SERVICES

Only signed tokens need to be sent to the NHS Prescription Services in the month end prescription submission. No need to file and sort the same way as FP10s.

LESS NEED TO ENTER PRESCRIPTION INFORMATION:

Electronic prescriptions contain the patient’s information so there is less need to type this into your dispensing system.

REDUCED PRESCRIPTION QUERIES

Prescribers have to use a standardised drug dictionary and must complete most fields when sending electronic prescriptions. This improves prescription accuracy and reduces the risk of patients receiving the wrong medication.

Receive fewer reimbursement queries from the NHS Prescription Services as prescription endorsement is done electronically.

The risk of receiving and dispensing duplicate prescriptions is reduced as electronic prescriptions cannot be lost.

IMPROVED PATIENT SATISFACTION

EPS allows you to order stock and prepare prescriptions in advance. This will reduce waiting times for patients and they will have to make less return trips to collect medication owing to them.

A prescriber can include notes for patients and/or dispensers in an electronic prescription. You can use these notes to pass on messages from the prescriber and provider a better customer service.

Accessing electronic prescriptions in advance of the patient’s arrival means you have time to order any out of stock items.

Integrate EPS with stock control modules in the dispensing system to further reduce administration.
